It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Joseph "Joejoe” Giacomo Wasson, who went to be with the Lord on December 6th, 2024, at the age of 35. Joey was a beloved son, brother, and friend, known for his radiant spirit and infectious laughter that could light up any room.
Joey was the cherished son of Francesca Wasson and the late Joseph Wasson, as well as the dear brother of Matthew John Wasson and his sister-in-law, Mary Wasson. He is also deeply mourned by his extended family and friends, who were blessed to witness his remarkable presence. Though Joey is no longer with us, his memory will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.
Joey was a man with a larger-than-life personality and a heart full of love. His sense of humor was boundless, and his joy in life was contagious. Always with a smile, Joey was known for his candidness and his lack of filter, which made him all the more endearing to those who loved him. His love for family was unwavering, and he thrived in the company of his loved ones, always eager to participate in every celebration, dinner, and gathering.
He was a passionate sports fan and a lover of music and bowling. He enjoyed attending Broadway plays and concerts. Joey’s zest for life also led him on many adventures, from trips to the streets of Rome and Naples to cherished summers in Villa Roma and Long Beach Island. Whether it was watching his dad and brother bowl in Brooklyn, dancing with his father, or even repeating the Catholic Mass at full volume on Sundays, Joey's enthusiasm for life was unmatched.
One of Joey’s greatest joys was spending time with those he loved, whether it was calling out for “Mommy” or simply being the center of attention at weddings, family parties, or casual outings. He was known to make every occasion more memorable with his infectious energy and warmth.
Some of the most treasured memories include the unforgettable moments when Joey was wheeled down a highway in Rome for a pizza adventure, the lighthearted scares of almost being mugged in Naples, and his meticulous checks at TSA before every flight. His family will forever hold close the simple, yet profound, moments of joy they shared together.
Joey leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and joy that will be remembered forever. His spirit will continue to shine through his family and friends, and his memory will live on in the many moments of happiness he brought to those around him.
Joey, you will forever be the light in our hearts.
