In Loving Memory of Giovanna Parisi
Giovanna Parisi, a beloved member of the Brooklyn community, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on December 29, 1930, Giovanna lived a life filled with warmth, compassion, and a deep devotion to her family and faith.
A pillar of strength and love, Giovanna was known for her unwavering spirit and the kindness she extended to all who crossed her path. Her generosity, humility, and dedication to her loved ones left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her. She was not only a devoted wife, mother, and friend but also a cornerstone of her community and church, embodying faith and resilience in every aspect of her life.
Giovanna was an incredible seamstress—one whom even the best tailors sought for guidance. She could mend anything with her skilled hands, and her talent was admired far and wide. Despite her mastery in sewing, she found her greatest joy in the kitchen. Cooking was her love language, and her homemade tomato sauce became a cherished tradition within her family. Conversations about her recipes are among the many treasured memories her loved ones will hold close to their hearts.
A devout Catholic, Giovanna never uttered a curse word and lived her life guided by faith and grace. She was well-known throughout the community, not just for her warm presence but for her steadfast devotion to her beliefs. Her faith was the foundation upon which she built a life filled with love, hard work, and unwavering commitment to her family.
Giovanna was married to her devoted husband, Celestino, for over 70 years. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and perseverance. She was a strong matriarch who ensured her home was always in order and filled with warmth. She took immense pride in her family and the people they became. She is survived by her loving husband, Celestino, and her two wonderful daughters, Maria and Tina, who will carry on her legacy of love and strength.
She was predeceased by her beloved brother, Pietro Zarrillo, and now joins him in eternal peace.
