Eileen C LaRuffa, widely known as "The Pope of Saint Finbar’s" and "The Unofficial Mayor of Bath Beach", passed away on June 23, 2024 She was a lifelong advocate for and a friend to everyone and anyone in need.

Born in Brooklyn on May 20, 1938, Eileen dedicated her life to serving her community and Parish Her proudest accomplishments were numerous, spanning over 60 years of active involvement various organizations. Eileen served as the Public Relations Director and Parish Trustee for St. Finbar’s Roman Catholic Church, Secretary and Recording Secretary for the Home School Association, and the Marian Rosary Society. She was also a member of Brooklyn Community Board 11, a longtime member of the 62nd Precinct Community Council, serving as it Secretary, Founding member of CERT, and an original member of the Bensonhurst Volunteer Ambulance Service.

Throughout her lifetime, Eileen received countless accolades and awards for her outstanding service to the community. In 2009, she was honored by New York State Senator Marty Golden as a "Woman of Distinction" for her exceptional work in Brooklyn as a community activist.

Eileen LaRuffa was married to the late Dominick P. LaRuffa Sr. in 1960. She is survived by her loving daughter Maria and her husband Michael, son Dominick and his fiancée Michele, grandchildren Dominick Jr. and his wife Emily, Marisa and her husband Matthew, Nicholas, Theo, Caitlin, as well as great-grandchildren Nicholas, Adriana, and Tristan.

Eileen's kind heart, unwavering dedication to helping others, and vibrant presence within the community touched the lives of many. Her legacy of compassion and service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Rest in peace, Eileen C LaRuffa. Your memory will forever be cherished by all who were lucky enough to have crossed paths with you.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St Finbar R.C.C. Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:00am
